Fort Bridger State Historical Site
Originally uploaded by RanaMuckI have been wanting to take a Sunday morning bike ride since I arrived but it has been rainy every weekend up until now. Today was a gorgeous day for a bike ride. So I set out this morning on my bike with my cameras ready to go; or so I thought.
I road from Mountain View, WY to Lyman, WY to take photos of lambs and horses. They were all pretty far away even for my 300mm lens but I took some photos anyway. After left that area I realised I had the camera set on the macro setting. Only one horse shot turned out. I'll have to try again next weekend; and next weekend I will pay attention to my auto settings!
From Lyman, WY I road to Fort Bridger, WY. I went down the plateau; there is a couple hundred foot drop. I was cruising down the hill enjoying the wind and thinking about the trip back up. I was just going to stay a little while in Fort Bridger but then I decided I would visit the Fort Bridger State Historical Site. The admission is only $2 for a resident or $4 for a non-resident. The site features historical buildings, a museum, and re-enactors. At the museum I watched a 15 minute historical video then I walked around. They were kind enough to let me ride my bike on the trails as long as I stayed out of the way of walkers. I was there early enough where I didn't have any problems with crowds of any kind.
While I was there, I realised my batteries were nearly dead. So I conserved my batteries and didn't take too many photos. I decided I have to go back again; maybe next weekend since its a long holiday with nothing else to do!
The lady at the gate suggested I take a different route home; this route had less steep of a grade for me to climb with my bike but it had a gravel road. The gravel road wasn't bad at all though. The trip took me about 4 hours in total and I wasn't hurting afterwards. The bike trails and roads are quite easy to ride if you don't let the steep inclines get to you.
